I used to tel this to newyorkers about, the fake novel that declares Amerigo Vespucci as the discover of USA.
Giovanni da Verrazzano was an Italian navigator and explorer. He completed his travels on behalf of France and explored many areas of the Atlantic coast of the present United States, including the Bay of New York, and Canada.
Giovanni da Verrazzano, however, was the first European to explore the Atlantic coast of the United States today and to get into New York Bay. For a long time he did not have the recognition given to Henry Hudson, who traveled, however, only in 1609. It was only with great effort that in the fifties and sixties was restored the name of Giovanni da Verrazzano as the first discoverer of the area and was dedicated to the Verrazano Narrows Bridge.
A superb day in Chianti will show you his birthplace, Greve in Chianti, combined with a fantastic wine tasting , of course!
